Daria Kasatkina, ranked No. 75, holds the edge in experience and clay-court pedigree entering her Mutua Madrid Open round-of-128 clash against qualifier Daria Snigur (No. 98), despite Kasatkina's shaky 4-6 record this year capped by a first-round loss to Ann Li in Rouen last week. Snigur counters with scorching 25-6 form in 2026, including straight-set qualifying wins over Vandewinkel here on high-altitude clay that boost her qualifier rhythm and compact baseline play. No prior head-to-head exists for this best-of-three encounter; Madrid's thin air amplifies pace, potentially suiting Snigur's aggression if Kasatkina's recent struggles persist amid a tournament plagued by withdrawals.
