In the Mutua Madrid Open second round on clay, No. 10 seed Victoria Mboko faces qualifier Caty McNally, with the Canadian holding a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their Australian Open clash in January 2026. Mboko, enjoying a breakout season at 19-6 and her first top-10 ranking, returns from a brief layoff following wisdom teeth surgery after a Miami quarterfinal exit, potentially introducing rust on the high-altitude clay that favors her power baseline game. Ranked No. 76, doubles specialist McNally rides momentum from defeating Katie Volynets in qualifying and a solid Rouen showing before a second-round loss, leveraging her net skills and movement against Mboko's aggression. Traders weigh Mboko's form and seeding against McNally's underdog upset potential in this WTA 1000 matchup.
