Elsa Jacquemot, the No. 9 seed at No. 60, holds trader attention as slight home favorite against lucky loser Tatjana Maria (No. 63) in the Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole first round on indoor clay, following Marketa Vondrousova's recent shoulder withdrawal that elevated Maria into the main draw. Jacquemot leads their head-to-head 1-0, upsetting Maria 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in last year's Guadalajara quarterfinals on hard courts. Both show subpar 2026 form—Jacquemot 5-9, Maria 3-12 post-Linz first-round loss—but Maria's veteran slice backhand and clay titles (career 46-71 WTA level) contrast Jacquemot's aggressive youth (4-11 WTA clay). French crowd support and surface familiarity heighten upset potential in this closely ranked matchup.
