Third-seeded Katarzyna Kawa (WTA 163) faces fifth-seeded Hanyu Guo (WTA 173) in the WTA 125 Huzhou Open semifinals on hard courts, with no prior head-to-head. Kawa advanced on a three-match win streak, grinding out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 quarterfinal over Varvara Panshina after straight-set victories against Carol Zhao and Alevtina Ibragimova. Home favorite Guo, riding momentum from China, dominated her quarterfinal 6-2, 6-1 against Rada Zolotareva following straight-set wins over Diletta Cherubini and Dalila Jakupovic. Both right-handers show solid hard-court form this week, but Guo's crowd support and recent career-high singles peak (No. 156) add upset potential against the more experienced 33-year-old Pole.
