Third-seeded Coco Gauff, the 2025 Madrid Open finalist with an elite clay profile including strong movement and return pressure, faces qualifier Leolia Jeanjean (WTA No. 126) in the second round on the high-altitude clay courts at Caja Magica. Gauff leads their head-to-head 1-0 from a 2022 US Open win and enters with a 19-7 record in 2026, seeking to build momentum ahead of defending points in Madrid and Rome. Jeanjean, with a 12-11 season mark and 3-1 on clay, advanced via straight-sets qualifying wins over Oksana Selekhmeteva but faces a stylistic mismatch against Gauff's power and defense. No injuries reported; weather conditions neutral for outdoor play. Trader consensus reflects Gauff's superior ranking, Madrid history, and form driving heavy favoritism.
