In the Mutua Madrid Open round of 128 on clay, No. 62 Elsa Jacquemot faces qualifier Tyra Caterina Grant, an 18-year-old Italian ranked No. 262 entering her first WTA main-draw win opportunity. Jacquemot enters with a dismal 5-10 record in 2026, including 0-1 on clay after a straight-sets loss to Tatjana Maria in Rouen last week, highlighting struggles in service games (57% won) and early-round exits. Grant, riding momentum from recent ITF clay successes like reaching Portoroz R16 before falling to Sara Sorribes Tormo, thrives in gritty baseline rallies suited to Madrid's high-altitude, faster clay. No prior head-to-head exists; traders weigh Jacquemot's experience and power against her poor form and Grant's qualifier resilience, with weather clear and no reported injuries.
