Leylah Fernandez enters her Madrid Open second-round clash with Julia Grabher holding a perfect 2-0 head-to-head edge, bolstered by her No. 25 ranking against Grabher's No. 107 and a recent quarterfinal run at Stuttgart on indoor clay, where she pushed World No. 1 Elena Rybakina in three sets despite a 6-10 overall 2026 record (3-2 on clay). Grabher, riding momentum from a stunning three-set upset over home favorite Paula Badosa in the first round on Madrid's red clay, leverages her stronger clay-court history (15-14 WTA level) but faces an uphill battle against Fernandez's superior first-strike tennis and return game. No reported injuries or withdrawals; outdoor conditions could amplify baseline rallies on the high-altitude clay.
