In the WTA 125 Huzhou Open clay-court semifinals, top seed Veronika Erjavec (#96), the defending champion from 2025, meets fourth seed Xiyu Wang (#170) in their first head-to-head matchup. Erjavec advanced with a clinical 6-2, 6-4 quarterfinal win over Wushuang Zheng in 79 minutes, building on her 13-7 clay record this year. Wang, riding a remarkable 21-1 overall 2026 mark and perfect 8-0 on clay—including a recent W50 Baotou title—edged Polona Hercog 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4 in a gritty three-setter lasting over three hours. No injuries reported; Wang benefits from home-crowd support in China, while Erjavec's surface familiarity and seeding shape trader consensus on this closely contested affair.
