Top-seeded defending champion Veronika Erjavec (No. 96) has dominated the WTA 125 Huzhou clay-court event, reaching the semifinals without dropping a set via straight-set wins over Meiling Wang (6-0, 6-3), Sofya Lansere (6-3, 6-3), and Wushuang Zheng (6-2, 6-4) in the quarterfinals. No. 4 seed Xiyu Wang (No. 170) advanced with a grueling three-set quarterfinal victory over Polona Hercog (6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4) following straight-set triumphs against Zhibek Kulambayeva and Chengyiyi Yuan, leveraging her 13-1 record this year and home support. First head-to-head matchup favors Erjavec's form and surface affinity, though Wang's resilience poses upset potential ahead of the May 2 center-court clash.
