Clara Burel, the home wildcard entrant, returns to WTA professional competition after over a year sidelined by an ACL tear from April 2025, facing No. 81 Viktorija Golubic in the Saint-Malo WTA 125 round of 32 on outdoor clay. Golubic holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage and arrives with recent clay exposure via a first-round Madrid loss to Anna Bondar, contrasting Burel's limited recent action in Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers and challengers amid ranking drop to around 750. Burel's surface familiarity and crowd support offer upside, but rust and Golubic's veteran consistency on clay shape trader consensus toward the Swiss as favorite in this closely watched matchup.
