Valve's April 28, 2026 update introduced a fully remastered Source 2 version of Cache to CS2's Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes after its 2019 removal from Active Duty, featuring improved lighting, textures, and bomb site tweaks that preserve core gameplay while enhancing optimization. However, integration into the Premier leaderboard and professional map pool remains pending, with Valve's historical pattern suggesting a late-July rollout aligned with Season 5 post-IEM Cologne Major, allowing teams time to adapt via third-party platforms like FACEIT, which added it earlier. Community hype, fueled by 2025 acquisition rumors and social banner teases, has shaped trader sentiment amid demands for map pool refresh to counter stagnation in current rotation.
