Trader consensus prices "Yes" at 88.5% for the Green Party securing at least one mayorship in the May 7, 2026, UK local elections, driven by their polling surge following the historic February Gorton and Denton parliamentary by-election victory over Labour—their first Westminster seat. A YouGov MRP poll released April 22 projects Greens narrowly as the largest party in Hackney, where candidate Zoe Garbett challenges the Labour incumbent for the directly elected mayor amid voter disillusionment with housing and local services; similar leads appear in Lewisham with Liam Shrivastava. Party leader Zack Polanski's April 9 campaign launch emphasized affordable housing pledges, capitalizing on national polls tying Greens at 21%. While late turnout swings or Labour recovery could disrupt, structural momentum favors a breakthrough in London borough mayoral races.
