Tommy Paul enters the round of 32 at the HSBC Championships (ATP 500, grass) as the clear favorite against lucky loser Zachary Svajda, reflecting his higher ranking near the top 20, superior recent results across surfaces including a 2026 clay title, and stronger grass-court pedigree. Paul reached the Queen's final in 2024 and brings consistent form with multiple wins this season, while Svajda, ranked 62 with a career high achieved in early June, relies on recent breakthroughs like a French Open fourth-round appearance but faces a steep step up against a seeded opponent on a surface that rewards Paul's all-court movement and serve. No major injury concerns or late withdrawals affect the matchup, though the quick grass transition from clay remains a variable for both Americans.
