Tomas Martin Etcheverry, ranked No. 29 and a seeded clay-court specialist, holds trader consensus favoritism over No. 83 Sebastian Ofner in this Madrid Open second-round matchup, driven by his superior 13-4 clay record in 2026 versus Ofner's 8-4. Etcheverry advanced via bye after strong Monte Carlo showings, including a comeback win over Atmane before falling to Alcaraz, while Ofner grinded a 7-6, 7-6 first-round upset over a Georgian qualifier but lost early in Barcelona to De Minaur. Ofner owns a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their 2023 Bastad clay win, and Madrid's high-altitude conditions could amplify his powerful serve, yet Etcheverry's baseline grinding and consistency favor prolonged rallies on the faster blue clay.
