Second-seeded Ben Shelton, riding momentum toward a second straight BMW Open final on Munich's outdoor clay, faces qualifier Alex Molcan in the semifinals after straight-sets quarterfinal wins over Joao Fonseca and earlier foes like Botic van de Zandschulp. The world No. 6 American leverages his booming lefty serve—21 aces in Houston's clay opener—and rising 15-5 2026 record, though clay tempers his power edge. Molcan, ranked No. 166 with an 11-2 clay mark this year, rides a dream run upsetting third seed Alexander Bublik in the opener before cruising as underdog. First head-to-head favors Shelton's size (193cm) and course history against Molcan's steady lefty baseline grinding; no injury concerns reported, with mild weather unlikely to shift dynamics significantly.
