South Korean wild card Soonwoo Kwon (ATP ~335, peak No. 52) holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge over qualifier Daniel Masur (ATP ~370) from their 2021 Wimbledon clash on grass, entering this Gwangju Challenger first-round matchup on outdoor hard courts with home crowd support. Masur gained valuable match practice and confidence by advancing through qualifying rounds in Gwangju over the past 48 hours, including a straight-sets win over Patrick Zahraj. Kwon aims to rebound from a recent opening-round loss to Leandro Riedi in Busan on hard courts, highlighting a competitive battle where Kwon's experience contrasts Masur's fresher legs and surface rhythm.
