Higher-ranked Hugo Gaston (#115) holds a clear edge over 18-year-old Darwin Blanch (#244) in their first-round-of-16 clash at the Mauthausen Challenger on outdoor clay, where Gaston's superior experience and clay proficiency (career 137-96) drive trader sentiment. Gaston advanced convincingly yesterday, dismantling qualifier Matthias Ujvary 6-0, 6-1 in 48 minutes without facing a break point and winning 94% of first-serve points. Blanch, a rising lefty talent, showed grit in a comeback win over local hope Jurij Rodionov 1-6, 6-1, 7-6(6), but struggled with five double faults and longer court time. No injuries reported; Gaston's efficiency tempers Blanch's upset potential in this evenly matched stylistic battle.
