In the Mutua Madrid Open qualifying final on clay courts, second-seeded Cristian Garin (#83 ATP), a clay specialist with five ATP titles on the surface, meets 24th-seeded Martin Damm (#124), in their first head-to-head. Garin advanced past Ugo Blanchet 7-5, 6-4 after a strong Monte Carlo Masters run, qualifying to the R32 before a tight loss to Alexander Zverev. Damm, a towering 6-8 lefty averaging 13 aces per match, dominated Andrea Pellegrino 6-0, 7-6(5) in round one, building on a 10-7 clay record this year despite an early Houston exit. Madrid's high-altitude conditions boost serving impact, pitting Garin's baseline consistency against Damm's power, with no reported injuries influencing trader consensus on the closely contested matchup.
