Arthur Fils enters this Mutua Madrid Open round of 16 clash with strong momentum after a 7-6(2), 6-3 win over Emilio Nava, extending his winning streak to seven matches amid a hot clay-court run including a Barcelona title. The No. 21 seed's aggressive baseline game and first-strike tennis suit Madrid's high-altitude clay, which plays faster than typical European red dirt. Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No. 25 seed and clay specialist ranked No. 29, rallied from a set down to beat Dino Prizmic 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, showcasing his grinding rallies and resilience, though he holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from a 2022 challenger. No reported injuries; trader consensus reflects Fils' recent form edge on this surface despite Etcheverry's baseline steadiness.
