Kimmer Coppejans, ranked No. 229 with veteran Challenger experience and a career-high of No. 97, enters the Rome Challenger round of 32 on clay as the ranking favorite against 20-year-old Italian Filippo Romano (No. 380). Romano rides momentum from straight-sets qualifying wins over Michele Ribecai and Alessio Balestrieri in the past 48 hours, bolstered by home-crowd support on familiar surfaces where his aggressive style could shine. Coppejans has shown recent inconsistency, dropping early in prior clay events, while no prior head-to-head exists. Mild Rome weather poses no delays; resolution follows standard best-of-three sets, with upsets common in Challengers due to surface familiarity and fatigue factors.
