Federico Bondioli (ATP 327) enters the Rome Challenger first-round clash on clay as the slight ranking favorite over fellow Italian Andrea Guerrieri (ATP 338), but Guerrieri carries momentum from their most recent head-to-head—a gritty 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 qualifying win in Monza two weeks ago, leveling the series at 1-1 after Bondioli's straight-sets qualifier triumph in Naples last month. Both left-handers have mixed recent clay results, with Bondioli exiting early in Barletta and Guerrieri advancing in qualifiers, amid no reported injuries or withdrawals. Home support and surface familiarity heighten the upset potential in this outdoor matchup.
