Second-seeded Alexander Zverev holds the clear experience edge over unseeded Belgian qualifier Alexander Blockx in their Mutua Madrid Open clay-court semifinal, their first ATP head-to-head, with high-altitude conditions amplifying Zverev's powerful baseline game and serve—he's won all three prior Madrid semifinals and advanced via straight-sets quarterfinal dismissal of Flavio Cobolli after navigating Jakub Mensik. Blockx, surging from No. 69 with career-best upsets over Felix Auger-Aliassime and defending champion Casper Ruud in the quarters, displays big-court poise but faces his sternest test yet. No injuries or withdrawals noted; rest even after Thursday quarters.
