In the Mutua Madrid Open first-round clash on high-altitude clay, Juan Manuel Cerundolo enters with momentum from his dominant 6-2, 6-2 clay win over Daniel Altmaier in February's Buenos Aires ATP 250—their most recent head-to-head, flipping Altmaier's prior 3-2 series edge. Ranked No. 67 to Altmaier's No. 55, Cerundolo boasts stronger 2026 clay form (12-7 record) despite a Barcelona R32 exit to Nakashima, while Altmaier (3-11 YTD) fell in Munich's R16 to qualifier Molcan. No reported injuries; Madrid's bouncy conditions suit Cerundolo's lefty spin and baseline grinding against Altmaier's flatter power, with trader consensus reflecting the Argentine's recent stylistic matchup advantage.
