In the Abidjan 2 Challenger round of 16 on outdoor hard courts, No. 5 seed Paul Jubb (ATP 280) faces Mert Alkaya (ATP 349) in their first head-to-head matchup, with trader consensus reflecting Jubb's higher ranking and seeding edge despite both players' strong recent hard-court form. Alkaya advanced with a gritty three-set win over Sasikumar Mukund in the opener, building on his Abidjan 1 quarterfinal run last week where he pushed top seed Gauthier Onclin, boasting a 25-9 hard-court record this year. Jubb cruised past Digvijay Pratap Singh 7-6(0), 6-1 after a second-round exit in Abidjan 1, holding a 12-6 hard mark in 2026. Tropical heat and humidity could test endurance in this evenly poised encounter, with a potential Onclin quarterfinal looming for the winner.
