Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7, released April 16, 2026, has propelled trader sentiment by scoring 44% on FrontierMath Tiers 1-3—a benchmark of hundreds of unpublished, expert-vetted math problems spanning undergraduate to research-level challenges—and 23% on the ultra-difficult Tier 4, trailing only OpenAI's GPT-5.4 variants. This marks a leap from Opus 4.6's 40%, reflecting scaling laws in large language model reasoning amid fierce competition from OpenAI and xAI. Traders weigh ongoing inference optimizations and potential Opus 4.8 previews against historical delays in frontier AI releases, with resolution hinging on official Epoch AI leaderboard updates by June 30; no major announcements loom in the next 60 days, leaving room for surprise evals.
