Arthur Fery enters the first-round HSBC Championships grass-court matchup against fellow Briton Toby Samuel with a modest edge in recent form and head-to-head history. Both players earned main-draw wild cards for their Queen’s Club debuts, announced days before the June 15 start. Fery, ranked near ATP No. 141, reached the Birmingham Challenger semifinal on grass before a three-set loss and holds a 6-4, 6-4 win over Samuel from a 2023 hard-court final. Samuel, around No. 150, comes off a grass Challenger quarterfinal exit in Ilkley and a first-round loss to Alex de Minaur at Roland Garros after strong qualifying. Their close rankings, limited prior grass exposure at this level, and the fast surface’s emphasis on serve and movement shape trader consensus around a competitive opener.
