Kimi Antonelli holds the clear lead in the 2026 F1 Drivers’ Championship after a dominant early-season run with Mercedes, including multiple consecutive victories that have established him as the frontrunner in trader consensus. His strong qualifying pace, race pace consistency, and ability to convert pole positions have created a substantial points buffer over teammate George Russell, whose recent retirements and inconsistent results have widened the gap. Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has yielded steady podiums and a climb into the top three, while Max Verstappen and McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri trail further back amid Red Bull and McLaren performance shortfalls. Recent mechanical issues for Antonelli in Barcelona highlight ongoing reliability risks, yet the wisdom of crowds reflected in current pricing continues to price in his commanding form and Mercedes’ competitive edge across the remaining calendar.
