Anhelina Kalinina enters this WTA Berlin qualifying opener as the clear favorite, holding the No. 69 ranking and a 34-11 record in 2026 compared with Lulu Sun's No. 110 spot and inconsistent results. Kalinina brings stronger recent momentum after solid clay performances, while Sun has posted just three wins in her past ten matches and exited the Ilkley grass event in straight sets. The pair has no prior head-to-head history, shifting emphasis to serve-return profiles and grass adaptation; Kalinina's first grass-court appearance since 2024 adds some uncertainty around surface transition, though her overall ranking edge and form edge have shaped trader consensus heavily in her favor.
