Viktorija Golubic, seeded No. 4 at No. 81, holds the edge over No. 196 Jessika Ponchet in this WTA 125 Saint-Malo clay quarterfinal, reflecting trader consensus on her superior ranking and consistent form. Golubic dispatched local wildcard Clara Burel 6-3, 6-2 in the second round three days ago before advancing past Whitney Osuigwe in the round of 16. Ponchet, fueled by French home-crowd support, capitalized on Fiona Ferro's retirement (6-1, 0-1 ret.) and defeated Yasmine Kabbaj in straight sets yesterday, building momentum on her preferred surface. Their head-to-head is even at 1-1, Ponchet's last win coming on hard courts in Osaka 2023; expect a competitive matchup testing Golubic's experience against Ponchet's clay familiarity and rest advantage.
