Japanese star Sora Matsushima, currently ranked No. 9 in ITTF world rankings, carries strong momentum into this WTT Men's Singles clash after reaching the final of the ITTF World Cup Macao 2026 last week, where he extended top seed Wang Chuqin to a thrilling seven-game defeat (4-3). The 18-year-old also advanced to the semifinals at WTT Champions Chongqing in March, falling 3-4 to Felix Lebrun in another epic best-of-seven battle. French talent Alexis Lebrun, sitting at No. 13, has endured recent setbacks, including a 0-4 quarterfinal exit to Hugo Calderano at the World Cup following early-round struggles. Their head-to-head favors Lebrun via a narrow 3-2 quarterfinal win at WTT Contender Zagreb 2024, underscoring a competitive matchup where Matsushima's superior form and ranking shape trader consensus amid table tennis's unpredictability from spin-heavy rallies and endurance tests.
