Alycia Parks enters as the higher-ranked player at No. 95 against Elina Avanesyan at No. 325 in the Mutua Madrid Open qualifying first round on outdoor clay, holding a 1-0 head-to-head edge after a straight-sets win over Avanesyan in February's Ostrava Open round of 16. Parks showed solid clay form last week, reaching the Stuttgart R16 with wins over Viktoriya Tomova and Noma Noha Akugue before a 7-6(6), 6-3 loss to Mirra Andreeva, leveraging her 185cm frame for powerful serving. Avanesyan, with a 9-8 record this year, advanced to an ITF Madrid QF last week, beating Francesca Jones but falling to Ane Mintegi Del Olmo. Trader consensus reflects Parks' ranking, size advantage, and recent momentum on the surface, though Avanesyan's clay affinity (56% career win rate) keeps it competitive in best-of-three sets.
