Noma Noha Akugue enters the Makarska Open quarterfinal on clay after strong recent results, including a straight-sets win over Miriam Bulgaru in the second round and prior victories on the surface that highlight her improved movement and baseline consistency. Sara Sorribes Tormo, returning to competition following an extended mental health break, advanced comfortably in her opening match but faces questions around match fitness and rhythm after limited 2026 activity. With no prior head-to-head meetings, the matchup pits Akugue’s rising form and home-region familiarity against the Spaniard’s greater experience and tactical variety on clay. Schedule position, potential fatigue from the short turnaround, and adaptation to the slow, high-bouncing courts remain key variables heading into the June 5 encounter.
