Valve's April 28 update added the reworked Cache map to CS2's Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes, confirming its return to the Active Duty map pool after a seven-year absence since 2019 removal. This follows intense community hype from official banners teasing Chernobyl-themed visuals and physics upgrades, plus FACEIT's April 22 inclusion as an eighth map following 200K votes. Pro players have praised its balanced mid fights and executes in workshop tests, addressing calls to refresh the stagnant seven-map rotation amid majors like IEM Cologne. Tournament organizers like BLAST and ESL now eye Cache for lineups, with no immediate replacement announced—traders note its matchmaking debut as a major step, though full pro-circuit adoption could lag.
