Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s June 7, 2026, social-media post of “Heil Hitler” in reply to an op-ed endorsing a right-wing presidential candidate triggered immediate international condemnation, including statements from the Anti-Defamation League and Israel’s Foreign Ministry. As the outgoing leader ahead of the June runoff, Petro faces heightened scrutiny over inflammatory rhetoric amid ongoing diplomatic tensions and domestic political transition. With no major scheduled addresses or policy deadlines in the final three weeks of June that would require revisiting the topic, traders assess limited near-term incentive or opportunity for repetition before the June 30 cutoff.
