President Trump publicly endorsed rebranding Immigration and Customs Enforcement as National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (NICE) in late April 2026 via Truth Social, amplifying a social media suggestion to force media references to “NICE agents.” White House and Department of Homeland Security accounts later posted related graphics, and Trump reiterated support in early May remarks, citing the current name’s negative connotations. No executive order, statutory change, or official implementation has followed. Trader consensus assigns low implied probability to completion by June 30 (around 2%) and modest odds by year-end (around 16%), reflecting procedural barriers, agency priorities on enforcement operations, internal skepticism including from border czar Tom Homan, and the absence of further concrete steps since the initial endorsement.
