The tight race between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics for Giannis Antetokounmpo reflects competing trade packages and his openness to long-term commitments in either market. The Bucks, holding one guaranteed year plus a player option on his deal, have solicited offers and seek clarity from suitors ahead of the 2026 draft, with Miami viewed as the frontrunner after submitting a package centered on Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, and draft assets. Boston poses a serious challenge, as league sources indicate Antetokounmpo would sign a four-year, $275 million extension there following a reported offer. Other Eastern Conference teams like the Magic and Timberwolves remain involved at lower levels, but the two leaders’ assets, roster flexibility, and Giannis’s extension preferences have kept implied probabilities clustered near 40 percent each.
