Both teams enter the mid-June series well below .500, with the Tigers hovering near the bottom of the AL Central and the Astros in the middle of the AL West pack. Detroit’s ace Tarik Skubal is nearing a return from a left-elbow issue after a successful minor-league rehab, while Houston’s Hunter Brown is scheduled to make his final rehab start before rejoining the rotation around the same timeframe. Additional bullpen and position-player injuries on both sides have limited roster depth, forcing reliance on depth arms and recent call-ups. Recent form shows inconsistent offense and bullpen volatility for each club, with home/road splits and back-to-back scheduling adding further variables ahead of the interleague matchup.
