US-mediated direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon opened in April 2026 with the first ambassador-level meeting in Washington since 1993, followed by additional rounds including military officials and White House participation. These produced a 10-day cessation of hostilities extended multiple times, focused on Hezbollah disarmament, border security arrangements, Lebanese Armed Forces deployment, and a potential comprehensive peace framework recognizing sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ongoing violations and Israeli strikes have tested the truce, while Lebanese officials prioritize full withdrawal and state control over weapons. Further political and security track sessions are scheduled into early June, with outcomes hinging on implementation progress and US facilitation amid Hezbollah's regional role.
