Iran secured early qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ via AFC third-round results, drawing into Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand, with all group-stage fixtures scheduled in U.S. venues starting June 15. Trader consensus reflects low removal probability amid persistent geopolitical tensions, including U.S. visa restrictions barring IRGC-linked individuals and safety concerns from ongoing Middle East conflicts. Recent developments—FIFA President Infantino's assurances of participation, U.S. State Department approval for the squad on April 24, and Iran's reaffirmed intent—bolster sentiment, though today's denial of entry to Iranian officials at Canadian FIFA Congress heightens uncertainty. No formal withdrawal has occurred, with training camps active and final confirmation pending before kickoff.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Iran is officially disqualified, banned, withdrawn, or otherwise confirmed not to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by April 30, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
For the purposes of resolution, a qualifying announcement made on or before April 30, 2026, will suffice, regardless of whether Iran ultimately participates in the tournament thereafter.
"Confirmed to not participate" is defined as an official announcement by FIFA, the Iranian Football Federation, or a governing body resulting in Iran's removal from the tournament, whether due to disqualification, withdrawal, suspension, or any other reason.
The resolution source will be official announcements from FIFA or the Iranian Football Federation, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
