Patrick Mahomes leads trader consensus at 58.5% implied probability as the Chiefs' Week 1 starting QB, but his recovery from a torn ACL in December 2025 introduces uncertainty around the typical 9-12 month rehab timeline ahead of September kickoff. Kansas City addressed depth by trading a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Jets for Justin Fields in March, positioning him at 26% after HC Andy Reid's April 21 endorsement calling Fields a "legitimate starting NFL QB" ready for early-season duty. Practice squad riser Chris Oladokun, who filled in last year, sits at 21.6% amid heated camp battles highlighted in late-April reports, while veterans Joe Flacco (7.9%) and Gardner Minshew (3.2%) lag as free-agent options.

If the Chiefs do not name a single player as the starting quarterback, the market will resolve based on the player who takes the most snaps at quarterback during their first offensive drive of the game. If multiple players take the same number of snaps on the Chiefs’ first offensive drive, the market will resolve to the player who took the first snap at quarterback.
This market may not resolve before the start of the Chiefs’ Week 1 regular season game.
The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the NFL (NFL.com); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
