World No. 6 seed Ben Shelton, riding strong clay-court momentum with a Munich title and 6-1 record on the surface in 2026, entered as the clear trader favorite against qualifier Dino Prizmic in the Mutua Madrid Open second round. The 20-year-old Croatian earned his spot with four straight wins, including a stunning upset over former finalist Matteo Berrettini in R1, showcasing aggressive baseline play and resilience. No head-to-head history exists, but Shelton's booming lefty serve thrives on Madrid's higher-altitude, faster clay, while Prizmic's youth and hot streak introduce upset potential amid uncertain weather conditions. Recent injury reports show both players fit, with Shelton's experience in Masters 1000 events driving consensus pricing.
