In the Mutua Madrid Open second round on high-altitude clay, No. 22 seed Arthur Rinderknech holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge over Dusan Lajovic from their prior meeting, entering with stronger recent momentum including straight-sets clay wins over Karen Khachanov at Monte Carlo and Alex Michelsen in Munich, boosting his 7-9 2026 record. Lajovic advanced via a gritty 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 first-round comeback against Matteo Arnaldi but carries a modest 2-4 seasonal mark amid ongoing form struggles. Both baseline grinders thrive on clay—Lajovic with superior surface history—but Rinderknech's break-point defense and current confidence shape trader consensus; clear weather and no reported injuries set up a competitive matchup.
