Wild card Rafael Jodar, the 19-year-old Spaniard at career-high No. 42, carries momentum into his Madrid Open Round of 64 clash against No. 5 seed Alex de Minaur after a gritty debut win over Jesper de Jong (2-6, 7-5, 6-4) on Wednesday, showcasing resilience in his Manolo Santana Stadium bow. De Minaur, ranked around No. 6, advances as the higher seed with superior experience but mixed clay results, including a Barcelona Round of 16 exit last week; his speed suits Madrid's high-altitude clay where balls travel faster. First head-to-head favors the Australian's baseline consistency over Jodar's aggressive youth and home crowd boost, with no reported injuries; weather clear for outdoor play. Trader consensus reflects de Minaur's edge amid Jodar's upset potential.
