Second seed Alexander Zverev holds a commanding edge over qualifier Alexander Blockx in the Mutua Madrid Open semi-finals on clay, bolstered by his world-class baseline game, two prior titles at the event, and strong recent clay form including straight-sets quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli after battling past Jakub Mensik. The 21-year-old Belgian Blockx, at career-high No. 69, has fueled trader interest with a breakout run—upsetting Casper Ruud in the quarters for his maiden Masters 1000 semi-final, plus earlier victories over Cristian Garin and Brandon Nakashima—but faces his sternest test yet against Zverev's power and experience amid no head-to-head history. No injuries reported; high-altitude conditions could amplify endurance demands in this first-time matchup.
