Javokhir Sindarov holds a strong lead in the 2026 World Chess Championship market after dominating the FIDE Candidates Tournament with an undefeated 10/14 score, clinching the challenger's spot with a round to spare. The Uzbek prodigy, who previously became the youngest World Cup winner, enters the title match against defending champion Gukesh Dommaraju with superior recent form and momentum. Gukesh, the youngest undisputed world champion, has shown vulnerability in 2025 tournaments and mixed results in preparatory events like the Grand Chess Tour, placing added pressure on the titleholder. Trader consensus reflects Sindarov's edge in head-to-head history and current trajectory heading into the fall match.
