Mercedes' W15 chassis has dominated the 2026 F1 season's opening Grand Prix, securing 1-2 finishes and propelling teammates Kimi Antonelli and George Russell to the top of the Drivers' Championship standings at 72 and 63 points, respectively, ahead of Charles Leclerc's 49. Antonelli's back-to-back victories in China and Japan—his second and third starts—have vaulted the rookie leader 9 points clear, but trader consensus implies a 41.5% probability for Russell due to his superior qualifying head-to-head (22-5), consistent podiums like the Australian GP win, and greater experience mitigating Antonelli's erratic race starts. Rivals like Verstappen and Norris trail amid Red Bull and McLaren development struggles, keeping their chances under 6%. Miami Sprint weekend looms as the next pivotal test.
